  1. 01This Act may be cited as the Rental Fairness and Affordability Act.
  2. 02The Minister of Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations is responsible for the administration of this Act.
  3. 03A landlord must provide a tenant with a written notice of rent increase at least 4 months before the rent increase takes effect.
  4. 04A landlord may apply to the Rent Guidelines Board for approval of a rent increase.
  5. 05The Rent Guidelines Board may approve a rent increase of up to 2.5% per year.
  6. 06A landlord may evict a tenant for non-payment of rent, but must follow the procedures set out in this Act.
